Headache

Headaches/Migraines

A migraine is one of the most frequently misdiagnosed medical problems. In addition, headaches can be one of the most abused diagnoses. Many times, it is mistreated by pain medication instead of getting help from a chiropractor.

The usual theory for a prescribing a headache is muscle tension at the neck and scalp, yet this very inadequately explains the true cause and the most effective treatment for it.

In most cases, there are muscular imbalances in your head, spine and neck area as a result of stress, poor posture, prolonged tension, etc.  A headache can also be a sign of one or more of the nerves are frequently trapped at their entry and exit points of the muscles, giving you that band-like pain around your head.

Common causes of headaches by lifestyle factors include:

  1. Alcohol, particularly red wine
  2. Certain foods, such as processed meats that contain nitrates
  3. Changes in sleep or lack of sleep
  4. Poor posture
  5. Poor sleeping posture
  6. Skipped meals
  7. Dehydration
  8. Stress

In addition to the spine, neck, or head being out of balance, chemical imbalances can also cause headaches.
