As you may know, the Coronavirus (COVID-19) is spreading rapidly around the world. The World Health Organization (WHO) and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has recommended basic protective measures against the new virus to help protect the elderly and those with fragile immune systems.
WHO and CDC Health recommendations include:
- Washing your hands frequently with soap and water.
- Maintaining social distancing of at least 3 feet between you and anyone who is coughing and sneezing.
- Refraining from physical contact with others outside of your home.
- Avoid touching of the eyes, ears, nose, and mouth.
- Limiting large gatherings of people 50 or more.
- Seeking medical care immediately if you feel ill or have a fever, cough, or difficulty breathing.
What are we doing to prevent the virus?
At Care Family Medical and Chiropractic, we are committed to providing a clean and sanitary environment.
As a precautionary measure, we have implemented increased hygiene routines and we are taking extra measures to wash and clean every surface area of our clinic.
We are also limiting the amount of contact that we have in the clinic as much as possible because respiratory viruses can be passed by shaking hands, inhaling the air of someone who has coughed or sneezed, and by touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
We are also recommending that you refrain from coming to see us if you are experiencing any kind of symptoms listed above.
Please call us immediately if you’ve experienced any of the virus’s symptoms. Your transparency can help us protect any other patients from becoming ill, especially if you’ve been in our office recently.
Can Chiropractic Help Prevent The Virus From Spreading?
Yes! Chiropractic can actually PREVENT the virus from spreading!
Chiropractic adjustments help the spine and the immune system to communicate and send signals back and forth throughout the body.
When the spine is out of alignment, your body and your immune system may react slower to illness. The nerves that control the immune system can sometimes receive interference and make it harder to get rid of toxins and disease.
When a chiropractor performs treatment with you, they are making sure that your spine is in complete alignment so it can send signals from the brain to your organs.
When your body is healthy and your immune system is in good shape, you are able to fight off the disease and recover much faster if you do become ill. This in turn can help to prevent the spread of any disease and help others around you from becoming ill.

The 1918 influenza pandemic (January 1918 – December 1920; also known as the Spanish flu) was an unusually deadly influenza pandemic, the first of the two pandemics involving H1N1 influenza virus, with the second being the swine flu in 2009.[1] The Spanish flu infected 500 million people around the world,[2] or about 27% of the world population of between 1.8 and 1.9 billion. The death toll is estimated to have been anywhere from 17 million[3] to 50 million, and possibly as high as 100 million, making it one of the deadliest epidemics in human history.
During the 1918 influenza epidemic, Davenport, Iowa, medical doctors treated 4,953 influenza cases with 274 deaths. At the same time, 150 chiropractors, students and faculty of Palmer School of Chiropractic treated 1,635 cases during the influenza epidemic with only one death.
The state of Iowa reports medical doctors treated 93,590 influenza patients with 6,116 deaths or one out of 15. The rest of the state, except for Davenport, reported 4,735 patients treated by chiropractor care with a loss of 6 which is 1 out of 789 during the influenza epidemic.
Chiropractic treatments proved to have reduced the risk of disease and death tremendously!
